The Delta Mu Sigma Alumnae Chapter

In January 1973, at the Florida Area Meeting of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated held in Tallahassee, Florida, the Regional Syntaktes Verneka Silva reported a list of cities that had been identified as key cities in Florida without a chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho. Orlando was one of the cities listed. Soror Patricia Tomlin volunteered to spearhead organizing a chapter in Orlando.

After much work was done by Soror Inez Fort, and Soror Patricia Tomlin, Delta Mu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho, Incoroporated was chartered under the leadership of Soror Patricia Tomlin as the first basileus of the chapter. The chartering ceremony was held on Sunday December 1, 1974 at the Howard Johnson located on West Colonial Drive.

The ceremony was presided over by Soror Verneka Silva, the Southeastern Regional Syntaktes from Miami, Florida.
